'Land banking' costs Aussies $6b: report

Home buyers have forked out almost $6 billion extra to buy property on the outskirts of major Australian cities in the past decade following "land banking" by developers.

A new report from economic think tank Prosper Australia analysed 26,000 sales at nine major master-planned housing developments across Victoria, NSW and Queensland.
