Lanarkshire woman hospitalised with serious injuries after thugs break into flat

A woman has been left with cuts to her body after suffering a serious assault from three thugs at her Lanarkshire home.

The brutes forced their way into the 35-year-old victim's property on North Vennel in Lanark during the early hours of Monday, May 2.

The woman remains in Wishaw General Hospital in a "serious but stable" condition, say medical staff.

It's understood the injuries the woman sustained are a result of at least one of the suspects using a bladed weapon.

The attack happened at around 4am on Monday morning.

Police say they currently don't know the reason behind the serious assault. However, they are chasing up information on a white car seen in the area at around the time of the attack.

Detective Sergeant Derrick Lunan, Wishaw CID, said: “The motive for this assault has still to be established, however, we believe that the suspects, for whatever reason, targeted this particular address.

“Officers have been carrying out enquiries since the attack and are keen to trace a white car seen in the area between 3.50 am and 4.10 am on Monday morning.

“If you have any information that will assist officers with their enquiries, or may be have dash cam or doorbell footage from Monday morning, then please contact officers at Wishaw CID via 101. Quote reference number 0511 of Monday, 2 May, 2022 when calling."

Alternatively, locals can provide information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
