A specialist Lanarkshire nurse had a date with royalty this week as she received a special honour on behalf of the NHS in Scotland.
Eleanor Grant, a palliative care nurse specialist at Wishaw General, accepted the George Cross from Her Majesty The Queen.
She was named Nurse of the Year at the Scottish Health Awards 2021.
Health leaders from the four UK nations were awarded the medal at a small ceremony at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, July 13.
It's just the third time ever that a George Cross has been awarded to an organisation rather than an individual.
The Queen said the vaccine effort was "amazing" as she celebrated the achievements of the NHS.
Caroline Lamb, chief executive of NHS Scotland, also received the George Cross with Eleanor Grant.
Many people have praised Eleanor online for her hard work and bravery during the pandemic.
One comment said: "Well done Eleanor, so very well deserved. The care & compassion shown to my Fiancé & us as a family was exceptional. You truly deserve this recognition."
While another wrote: "Eleanor Grant is worth her weight in gold.
"She helped me personally, our family and more importantly my wee Mammy in her final days on planet earth in January.
"Huge congratulations to you Eleanor. You deserve an award of your own for the support offered to folks.
"We are indebted to you."
