South Lanarkshire College beauty students gave a theatre group a frightfully good masterclass on horror make-up ahead of their forthcoming production of The Addams Family .
HND Year 2 make-up artistry students, who are performing make-up duties on the East Kilbride Village Theatre show, held a make-up workshop with EROS Musical Society earlier this week.
EROS will be performing The Addams Family musical at the East Kilbride Village Theatre from March 8-11 - the first show to be staged at the Lanarkshire venue since the start of the pandemic.
Lecturer David Farquar said: "We are excited to be part of the experience for theatre goers. All the students had a great time.
"The whole class is looking forward to working on the show when it starts and being a pivotal part of the theatre reopening".
Shona Clark, Eros secretary, liaised with Cheryl Robertson of the make-up artistry department to bring about the masterclass.
She said: “The atmosphere at the make-up masterclass was amazing, there was a great deal of talk and excitement about the work between the actors and the make-up artists as they shared their experience.
"The staff and students have really given us a truly invaluable insight in how to prepare ourselves for this show’s unusual look - and I know they found it just as beneficial, in terms of work experience.
"We are also really grateful that Mearns Kirk Church could accommodate us at such short notice after South Lanarkshire College was closed due to flooding.”
A musical comedy take on The Addams Family , the decision to take on a full musical - with the significant expense incurred - was not taken lightly, say the club.
With the constantly changing circumstances regarding coronavirus, and the problems surrounding self-isolation, Eros took the decision early on to double-cast all principal roles.
Lesley Wilson, EROS vice president who plays Morticia in the show, added: “We are all absolutely raring to go with The Addams Family , especially now we have the looks to match the moves!
"I hope that this special collaboration between the make-up artistry department at South Lanarkshire College and Eros is just the start of a great relationship between us for many shows and years to come.”
Tickets for the show are priced £18 for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, £20 for Saturday evening, and Saturday Matinee is £12.50 for children, £16 for adults.
Tickets are available online or by calling the box office on 01355 248 669.
