Lamine Yamal Launches His First American Eagle Fashion Collection

Lamine Yamal's first exclusive apparel collection with American Eagle launched globally on Sept. 3, marking the first true product collaboration under the five-year global ambassador partnership the 19-year-old Barcelona and Spain forward signed with the retailer earlier this year.

The 25-piece men's and unisex capsule draws on Yamal's off-pitch personal style rather than his footballing identity, according to reporting corroborated by Complex and WWD. The collection includes oversized denim shirts, hooded denim jackets, wide-leg and cargo-style pants, rugby shirts and relaxed-fit denim, presented in a palette of greens, tans, whites and burgundy that the brand has tied to Yamal's Spanish heritage. American Eagle chief marketing officer Craig Brommers described the design intent as marrying Yamal's street-style sensibility with the brand's American heritage.

The launch is timed to land inside American Eagle's back-to-school campaign, which began Aug. 26 and has centered heavily on Yamal following Spain's FIFA World Cup victory this summer. As part of that campaign, the retailer temporarily rebranded itself "Lamine's Eagles," renamed one of its bestselling denim fits "The 19 Jean" in reference to Yamal's shirt number, and staged a CGI takeover of Times Square.

American Eagle signed Yamal to the five-year deal in January 2026, making him the retailer's first global brand ambassador under this kind of multi-year arrangement. The company had already released a smaller collection called "Lamine's Picks" in June, but Sept. 3 marks the first collection genuinely co-designed with Yamal's input rather than curated around his existing style preferences. The partnership comes as American Eagle looks to reverse a soft start to the year — comparable sales slipped 2% in the first quarter of 2026, according to Complex — with back-to-school season representing the retailer's most important selling period.

Whether the collection becomes a lasting commercial success remains to be seen; no sales figures have been released, and none should be assumed from the scale of the marketing campaign alone. What is clear is the scope of the bet American Eagle is making on a teenage World Cup champion who, in the space of a few months, has gone from breakout international footballer to the centerpiece of one of the retailer's largest brand campaigns in recent memory.
