The Los Angeles Lakers have been hit relentlessly by the injury bug over the past couple of years. In particular, LeBron James and Anthony Davis have missed a significant amount of time due to multiple significant injuries.
Davis missed over five weeks earlier this season with a right foot stress injury, and James is currently out due to a right foot tendon injury that will sideline him for at least three more weeks.
To make matters worse, point guard D’Angelo Russell has missed L.A.’s last four games with a sprained ankle.
All these ailments have left the team with a lack of ball handlers and shot creators, and it has been held under 110 points twice in its last four games.
As a result, the Lakers reportedly may end up working out veteran guard Kemba Walker.
Via Lakers Daily:
“Sources tell Lakers Daily that the Lakers are considering bringing in Kemba Walker for a workout. The team is looking for another ball-handler with LeBron James expected to miss extended time due to a foot injury.”
In 12 NBA seasons, Walker has proven himself to be potent on offense. He has a career average of 19.3 points per game while shooting a respectable 36.0 percent from 3-point range.
However, his production has taken a nosedive over the last couple of seasons, partly due to injuries. He has appeared in just 46 games since the beginning of the 2021-22 campaign, and he hasn’t played in a single game in about two months.
Walker was waived by the Dallas Mavericks on Jan. 6.
