NSW reported eight new COVID deaths on Sunday, but hospital admissions continued to fall slightly.
The deaths included a woman in her 90s from Lake Macquarie, six people from Sydney and one from the Central West region.
Two of the people were aged in their 50s and two each in their 70s, 80s and 90s.
Of the six people who died over the age of 65, three had received three doses of a vaccine, one had received two doses and two were unvaccinated.
Of the two people who died under the age of 65, one had received one dose and the other had received two. Both had significant underlying health conditions.
The Hunter New England Health district again recorded the most positive tests in the reporting period at 1388.
NSW recorded 11,107 positive tests in the 24 hours to 4pm on Saturday.
The number of COVID patients in NSW hospitals dipped to 1588, down from 1617 the previous day.
The state's COVID patient load has fallen from a peak of 1641 on Thursday.
HNEH hospitals are treating 79 COVID patients, down from 89 the previous day.
