Lady Gaga gave the performance of her life at the 95th Academy Awards on Sunday night - and she went completely makeup free for the memorable moment.
In an unexpected move, the music icon, 36, rid herself of the glamorous makeup she donned earlier on the Oscars red carpet and instead, went for a bare-faced look for her unforgettable performance.
The Poker Face hit-maker also ditched her glamorous black Versace gown, swapping it out for a muted green t-shirt and ripped jeans before she took to the stage to belt out her Oscar-nominated song Hold My Hand from the Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack.
Lady Gaga suggested that she wanted to keep things completely stripped back during the performance as she spoke about how deeply important the song was to her in her life.
The singer told the audience of the song: "It's deeply personal for me and I think that we all need each other, we need a lot of love to walk through this life.
"And we all need a hero sometimes, there's heroes all around us. In unassuming places, but you might find that you can be your own hero, even if you feel broken inside."
Following her poignant performance on the night, members of the audience gave a welcome round of applause to the singer, who appeared to be overwhelmed and touched by the amazing reaction.
However, viewers watching at home had mixed opinions on the subtle rendition from the star.
On Twitter, one user gushed: "Everyone expected a big production but lady gaga has once again prove that all she need is her talent to stand out. all the glam being stripped away just an intimate performance with her voice #Oscars."
"Lady Gaga, I like you, but this song is boring. #Oscars," one viewer moaned on Twitter, as another asked: "Oh, I hadn't heard this Top Gun song. It's so boring. Is Lady Gaga okay??"
While a third tweeted: "Love Lady Gaga for not wearing makeup, but her speech at the beginning of the song was way too long? Like girl, just shush and sing."
Lady Gaga's dressed down ensemble and appearance was in stark contrast to her earlier look on the night, where she stunned in a showstopping black gown.
The superstar singer wore a floor-length gown which featured a corset top with see-through mesh panels.
She topped off the glamorous look with a bold red lipstick and styled her locks away from her face to allow her makeup and ensemble to do all the talking.
