Ladd McConkey snubbed from Pro Bowl

Former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Ladd McConkey has been snubbed from the 2025 Pro Bowl. McConkey failed to make the AFC’s initial roster, but there is a silver lining because he was named as a Pro Bowl alternate. NFL players frequently opt out of the Pro Bowl due to injuries, deep playoff runs and more, so McConkey could still end up making the Pro Bowl.

McConkey, who is the Los Angeles Chargers’ all-time leading rookie receiver in receptions and receiving yards, is in the midst of an incredible rookie season. McConkey’s play has helped the Chargers’ passing game immensely. He is a big reason why Los Angeles is 10-6 and has clinched a wild card spot in the NFL playoffs.

McConkey has a team-high 77 receptions for 1,054 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. McConkey has the 14th-most receiving yards and 15th-most touchdown receptions of any player in the NFL (entering Week 18).

McConkey is playing for a much more successful team than fellow AFC Pro Bowl wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, who had 90 catches for 1,229 yards and four touchdowns, but played for the 3-14 Cleveland Browns. McConkey’s numbers are superior to those of Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl wide receiver Zay Flowers (74 receptions for 1,059 yards and four touchdowns). The Chargers’ receiver has a legitimate argument to be one of the AFC’s four Pro Bowl wide receivers, but now he’ll have to wait to see if he’s selected as an alternate.

McConkey and the Chargers play Brock Bowers and the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 18. It is unclear if the Chargers will play their starters much against the Raiders.
