A LABOUR MP has reportedly made a police complaint about a frontbench colleague, alleging he sexually assaulted her.
The news site Tortoise reported a female member of parliament reported one of Keir Starmer’s top team to the Metropolitan Police over the alleged assault, said to have taken place in London in July 2021.
The site named neither party but said it had corroborated the MP’s claim with two sources.
Tortoise reported senior party figures were made aware of the claim and that the subject of the complaint remained in post.
A Labour Party spokesperson told the site: “We take any allegations of this sort very seriously and would always encourage individuals to go to the parliamentary process, the Labour Party process or the police. In terms of the Labour Party process, it is a thorough, robust and independent process that individuals can have confidence in.”
The Metropolitan Police were approached for comment.
