Kyren Williams, Quentin Lake return to practice for Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are getting reinforcements following their bye week on both sides of the ball. After getting a few players back in practice earlier this week, Kyren Williams and Quentin Lake were back on the practice field on Wednesday for the Rams.

Williams suffered an ankle injury in Week 1 and the Rams immediately placed him on injured reserve, meaning he would need to miss a minimum of four games. With the rookie running back still on injured reserve, his return to practice on Wednesday indicates that Los Angeles will have 21 days to activate him to the roster now.

Given the struggles that the running game has had to begin the season — and the Rams looking to trade Cam Akers —Williams is expected to have a decent-sized role if he returns without any limitations. Sean McVay iterated earlier this week that the Notre Dame product was likely a week away from beginning his 21-day window, so his return on Wednesday is potentially a positive sign in his recovery process.

Meanwhile, Lake was placed on the PUP list at the start of training camp and there haven’t been many updates since then. The rookie sixth-round pick’s return to practice could indicate that he’s finally ready to make his season debut soon.
