Kylian Mbappe sent warning by PSG boss amid Neymar feud and anger over missing wages

Paris Saint-Germain boss Christophe Galtier has reiterated that Kylian Mbappe is "not above the club" amid renewed speculation over his future.

Mbappe was angered that a recent wage payment from PSG was late just months after opting to sign a three-year contract extension with the Ligue 1 champions, keeping him in the French capital until 2025.

One of the most noticeable aspects of his new contract was the reports that Mbappe would hold great sway in the club's sporting decisions as part of his new deal. However, reports have claimed that he once again wants to leave PSG in January, after his future was thrust into the limelight last month.

Speculation over the striker's future comes amid his ongoing reported feud with attacking teammate Neymar. Galtier staged a first-team meeting in which the two were rebuked, but it has become clear that despite a winning project on the pitch there are still concerns away from it.

Galtier has now come out publicly to reinstate that as important as Mbappe is, he – like every other player – is not above the club. Galtier's summer appointment, alongside that of transfer advisor Luis Campos, was seen as prioritising the unity of the club and introducing discipline.

The PSG boss told the RMC show Rothen s'enflamme: "Mbappe embodies the project, there is no doubt about it. But when I say that he embodies the project, it is not that he is above the club. Kylian is at the same level as all the other players.

"He is at the same level as Leo Messi, who has an incredible career, who is the best player in the history of football, Kylian is at the same level as Neymar."

Speaking of Mbappe's on-field relationship with Neymar and Messi, Galtier added: "They play together. They have a real permanent relationship in training, every day. They look for each other. It's a daily reality. They are three great players with different personalities, different ages. They know very well that they will succeed playing together."

Galtier also said that while there would be necessary rotations in attack, the three superstars would be among the first names on the teamsheet for him, when fit: "In Japan, I met with Leo, Neymar and Kylian. I told them that at some point there would be management. But if you want to win, you can't take away Messi, Neymar and Mbappe."

PSG remain unbeaten this season under Galtier – collecting 41 points from their opening 15 matches in Ligue 1 and securing their progress through to the Round of 16 in the Champions League, where they will play Bayern Munich.
