Kyle Shanahan was not impressed with Brock Purdy’s touchdown to Brandon Aiyuk, no matter how good it looked.
Despite the magic of last season wearing off, Brocky Purdy still has some Houdini moves in his repertoire. It helps that he has a talented roster around that elevates his play, even when that play is not up to par.
On Sunday, the 49ers steamrolled the Jaguars in a 34-3 win. Much of that involved Purdy quickly exploiting whatever the Jags threw at him. He pressed his luck early with an “excuse me, Brock Purdy” touchdown to Brandon Aiyuk.

In real-time, the touchdown looked stellar, elite even. But, upon further review, the throw felt incredibly lucky as Purdy managed to thread the needle over George Kittle and two defenders to get the ball to Aiyuk.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked about the play after the game and rightfully questioned Purdy’s puzzling decision-making.
Translation: DO NOT do that anymore.
"That was one of his worst decisions I think he's made since he's been here."
