UNESCO, the UN's cultural organisation, has put Ukraine’s two cities Kyiv and Lviv on its ‘in danger’ list. The reason behind this is that these cities are at risk from Russian invasion. The news was announced this Friday and the decision was taken at UNESCO's annual world heritage committee meeting in Riyadh.
The UN's cultural organisation further mentioned that it is a big step towards better protection of the historic sites. In a statement released by UNESCO, it was mentioned that the inclusion on the List of World Heritage in Danger "also opens the door to additional financial and technical aid in order to implement new emergency measures".
