The Shoulder Seam: The One That Cannot Be Fixed Later
The shoulder seam is the single measurement a tailor cannot correct once the kurta is stitched. Every other fit problem, a slightly long sleeve, a hem that needs shortening, has a fix. A shoulder seam placed even two centimetres off has no clean solution. The seam where the sleeve joins the body should sit exactly at the bony tip of your shoulder, the acromion. If it falls past that point onto the upper arm, the entire garment pulls forward when you lift your arms. If it sits short of that point, the chest panel bunches and the armhole digs in.
