Kristen Stewart called 'irresponsible' for trying to vomit in Princess Diana role

Kristen Stewart has been called irresponsible for trying to make herself vomit while portraying Princess Diana’s battle with bulimia.

And the makers of Spencer have been accused of “glamorising” eating disorders in the film based on the late royal.

Kristen, 31, who is up for a Best Actress Oscar for the role, said she did not want Diana’s illness to be “glossed over”.

“I’ll do f***ing anything,” she told Vanity Fair. “I couldn’t throw up on this movie, even when I really should have.

“I felt like absolute s*** and I could not get it up, and I know it was because my body was just like… the idea of that was so untouchable.”

However, Tom Quinn, of eating disorder charity Beat, said while they understand actors wanting to “get as close to their characters as possible”, doing so in this way brings a “huge risk” to their health.

He told the Mirror: “Depicting eating disorders on screen can be a brilliant way to raise awareness of these serious mental illnesses, but it’s crucial this is done responsibly.

“We’d urge the film industry to protect professionals working in this space, for instance by dedicating time and resources to eating disorder training.”

Martha Williams, a Clinical Advice Coordinator for the charity, added: “Some aspects of the film, we felt, seemed to glamorise the eating disorder. At one point there was an image of Diana wearing a ball gown and slouching over the toilet.”

We have approached Kristen’s team for comment.
