Some of us choose to incorporate animals into the home as beloved pets; others choose to pay homage to wild animals via prints and sculptures. Regardless, it is safe to say that animal motifs in the home are here to stay.
Kris Jenner's spin on animal print makes a statement in her entryway via a grand, white table featuring unmissable lion figurine legs. It adds texture and visual interest to the neutral space, which includes a black and white spiral staircase, as well as a large plant in an intricate blue and white vase.
Animal print and motifs can certainly be a bold design choice, but experts agree that it is one that will never go out of style, and it's surprisingly versatile.

Decorative neutral
Don't be afraid to introduce animal print to your home. A rug is the simplest and more effective way to add color, pattern and texture to a space with minimal effort. The trick to decorating with animal print is to remember that less is more. Going for an outgoing leopard print design? Then balance it with plenty of neutrals for a sophisticated look.
Accent chair
More is definitely more when it comes to pattern this season – we're seeing all kind of motifs being given the catwalk treatment, but none more so than leopard print on armchairs. This piece is ideal for injecting personality into a space, and can enliven even the most featureless room.
Designer pick
Designed by Sarah Sherman Samuel, the mastermind behind Mandy Moore's recent remodel, this design pillow is a must-have accessory for your sofa or daybed. The gold-ochre colorway is the color of the moment.
Whether through a leopard print sofa or wallpaper depicting a jungle scene, animal imagery is a playful way to tap into maximalist decor.
'Animal motifs bring an undeniable charm to interiors, blending whimsy, sophistication, or even drama depending on how they’re used,' says designer Nina Lichtenstein. 'From bold animal prints to delicate animal-themed decor, these elements have proven timeless while evolving to suit contemporary tastes. But how can you incorporate them effectively?'
Lichtenstein recommends beginning with accent pieces for a small but sufficient introduction.
'Use throw pillows, rugs, or artwork to introduce animal motifs subtly,' she suggests. 'A zebra print pillow or a framed flamingo illustration can provide personality without overwhelming the room.'
She continues, 'For a bold look, consider furniture with animal-inspired designs, like leopard print upholstery or a bench with clawfoot legs. These pieces can become the focal point of a space.'
Additionally, consider wallpaper and figurines for an all-encompassing and scenic infusion of animal decor.
'Animal-patterned wallpaper or curtains can bring life and texture to a room,' Lichtenstein states. 'Opt for softer, monochromatic prints for a sophisticated approach or vibrant designs for a playful touch. Also, small ceramic animals or sculptures can add charm to shelves or mantels. These are excellent for curated vignettes that reflect your personality.'
Lichtenstein says that the choice of animal symbol is entirely personal; however, some staples fit into particular design schemes.
'Animal motifs continue to captivate both designers and homeowners,' she says. 'While leopard, zebra, and cheetah prints remain perennial favorites, newer trends include exotic animals. Flamingos, tigers, and peacocks are showing up in decor, particularly in tropical and bohemian themes. Additionally, as sustainability and biophilic design gain momentum, animal motifs tied to natural settings (e.g., birds, bees, and butterflies) are more popular than ever.'
