Jubilant Kris Boyd riffed on Spanish tears as he zeroed in on Rodri amid his astonishing blast after Scotland cuffed his country.
The Manchester City superstar – regarded by many as the best holding midfielder in the world – belied his hard man reputation as he was reduced to salty rant after Steve Clarke's side were too much for them in EURO 2024 qualifying. And his verdict didn't go unnoticed by former Rangers striker Boyd who was quick with the jokes after Rodri branded Scotland's approach "rubbish".
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "I hope Pep's got some new dummies ready for Rodri when he gets back to Manchester City because he certainly spat them out last night."
Chuffed Boyd was also quick to extoll the virtues of the national team who were too hot for a side who had only lost two qualifying games in 17 years to handle.
He added: "I think it shows how far Scotland have come under Steve Clarke because when you've got top nations like Spain turning up and making excuses - the length of the grass on the pitch, fouling - you look at Iago Aspas last night and he was more of a wrestler challenging Ryan Porteous.
"I get the fact that they're disappointed they've lost the game but Scotland were deserved winners, it wasn't a fluke. If you go toe to toe with nations who basically invented that style of football, you're going get beat."
