Kris Boyd has ripped into current Rangers man Alfredo Morelos for failing to end his Light Blues career on a high note - asking the Colombian star on why he's 'decided to chuck it'.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Morelos was one of football's top strikers and perhaps even considered one of Europe's rising young strikers. A return of 30 goals in 48 games in 2018-19 - with 14 of those arriving in European competition - before a similar tally of 29 the following season, meant that Rangers seemingly had a top quality young bagsman on their hands.
But since the restart of football with no crowds, it has all gone wrong for the controversial man. Constantly being dogged by fitness issues that are seemingly of his own doing, Morelos has been in and out of Rangers' side, with Antonio Colak, Kemar Roofe and Fashion Sakala all keeping him out of the starting XI; and when you add to this his poor form, bizarre attitude and expiring contract, it's sad to see where it all went wrong for a player who was consistently linked with Champions League stalwarts in his pomp.

But ex-Rangers man and pundit Boyd has offered Morelos no sympathy, and in his Scottish Sun column, condemned the South American striker for 'his deploreable' attitude and 'steady decline.'
He wrote in his Scottish Sun column: "With Antonio Colak and Kemar Roofe still sidelined through injury, Beale really doesn’t have many options up front. If the only recognised centre-forward doesn’t start against Celtic, what does that tell you? It’s a messy situation as he could still find himself in the starting XI. I wouldn’t pick him, but this is a situation which has rumbled on for several months and nothing would shock me now.
"Over the past year there has been a steady decline in Morelos and it gives me no great satisfaction to say ‘I told you so’. There was a widely-held belief that he would improve once he regained full fitness. If anything, he has been getting worse with each passing week.
"In most of the recent matches, he’s been like a man down. He was never the most skilful player in the league. But in terms of what he could bring, he could be arguably the most effective.
"In previous seasons, he showed what he is capable of — occupying entire backlines, working tirelessly and selflessly, scoring and creating. For reasons known only to himself, he’s decided to chuck it. It’s pretty sad because Morelos should be remembered for so much more than the last few months.
"Yet, he has brought all the criticism on himself with his deplorable attitude. He should be bowing out as a Rangers great. Instead, he’ll head elsewhere in the summer with his tail between his legs — that is if anyone wants him."
