KOLKATA: A fake call centre operating out of the ground floor of a two-storey residential complex close to the Tollygunge Metro station was busted in a midnight raid by Kolkata Police on Friday. Twelve people have been arrested so far.
Cops said the accused mainly targeted US citizens. Sources claimed this was the 14th fake call centre that has been busted this year.
"We acted on source information and a raid was conducted on the ground floor of Ganesh Bhawan on Chandi Ghosh Road. We found 12 people with desktop computers and laptops. The prime accused, Bijay Shaw (26), along with 11 others were apprehended. Twelve hard disks, 12 mobile phones and two laptops were seized," said an officer.
Several cars and cash, along with incriminating documents, were also found.
