KOCHI: In a bizarre incident, a young man committed suicide by inflicting an injury on his neck with a knife in public near Deshabhimani Junction around 5.30pm on Monday. He was rushed to a hospital with injuries to his arms and neck by passersby but his life couldn’t be saved.
Police said the deceased has prima facie been identified as Christopher of Thoppumpady.. The body was moved to Ernakulam General Hospital.
Hill Palace police arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly chasing and damaging the car of a retired DSP and attacking him around 9pm on Sunday.
Akash Kumar Singh of Jharkhand is the arrested. According to the complainant, three people attacked the officer. Police said the retired officer and his wife were reportedly driving along the Sanskrit College Road when a guest worker and other two accused attacked him.
