KOCHI: City police have yet again issued a directive banning overtaking by buses and heavy vehicles in the city limits. The latest order issued on Thursday also bans noise pollution through honking.
As per the statement issued by the City police on Thursday, a hundred metre radius of schools, courts, hospitals, and colleges has been declared as silent zones. Vehicles cannot honk in these areas unless it is to prevent accidents. The order reemphasizes that private buses and autorickshaws should stay on the left side of the road and shouldn't overtake each other or other vehicles no matter what.
