KOCHI: Ernakulam on Saturday reported 5,577 Covid positive cases, of which 5,507 were infected through contacts. The source of infection of 48 remains unknown. Twenty health workers have also been tested positive. The day also saw as many as 9,135 recoveries. While 6,547 were placed under quarantine in houses, 11,124 were released from quarantine.
The number of patients undergoing treatment at hospitals and at houses touched 64,174. The control room received 73 calls on the day. As many as 67,210 people are under home quarantine. A total of 16,431 samples were sent for testing.
Meanwhile, 5,267 doses of the vaccine shots were administered on the day. Of these, 1,299 were first doses and 2,624 second doses. As many as 1,344 booster doses were also given on Saturday. With this, the total vaxination shots administered in the district till date rose to 58,55,448 doses. Of these, 31,98,124 were first doses.
