Know all about Phangnon Konyak, BJP's RS MP, who accused Rahul Gandhi of making her ‘uncomfortable’

New Delhi: BJP Rajya Sabha MP Phangnon Konyak on Thursday claimed that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi made her ‘very uncomfortable’ and ‘shouted’ at her during a protest in Parliament premises. 


The alleged incident occurred when INDIA bloc MPs were staging protest against Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks on BR Ambedkar.

"I say this with a very heart, for which I have already sought your protection, today while protesting, it was a peaceful protest. I was standing just below the staircase of ‘Makar Dwar’. Something happened to me and I feel really disheartened. LoP Rahul Gandhi came really close proximity of me, and I really felt uncomfortable, and he shouted at me which I feel is really unbecoming of the leader of Opposition,” Konyak said in a Parliament.

Konyak writtes to RS Chairman 
The Rajya Sabha MP has also written to the Chairman of the Upper House, alleging misbehaviour by Rahul Gandhi.

 “My dignity and self-esteem have been deeply hurt by LoP Rahul Gandhi,” she wrote in the letter. 

She comes from Nagaland
The MP belongs to the Scheduled Tribe community of Nagaland. She is the State Vice President of BJP.

Education
Konyak did her schooling from Dimapur before enrolling herself for a Master’s degree in English Literature from Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi.

First woman to be elected to RS from Nagaland
She belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party. She is the first woman to be elected as Member of Rajya Sabha from Nagaland in April, 2022 and the second woman from the State to be elected to either House of the Parliament or the State Assembly. (With Agency Inputs)
