A homeless man slashed a foreign woman with a box cutter on Silom Road in Bangkok on Sunday.

The Metropolitan Police Bureau said that a big, tall man attacked a foreign woman at the entrance of Silom soi 5 at 11.30am and fled the scene. Crowd control police rushed to scene tracked the attacker down by using surveillance camera footage.

He was arrested nearby with a 23-centimetre-long cutter, including the extended blade.

Police identified the assailant only as Film, 30, of no fixed address. He allegedly confessed to the attack and explained that he “does not like fat people”.

The victim was treated at a local hospital and later taken to Thung Mahamek police station to officially identify her attacker.
