With their season on the ropes, the defending champs leaned on Steph Curry in Game 7 against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday and two-time Most Valuable Player came through with a legendary performance.
Curry took over against the Kings, scoring a historic 50 points on 20-of-38 shooting from the field with seven made triples to go along with eight rebounds and six assists in 38 minutes.
While Curry recorded the highest-scoring performance in Game 7 history to eliminate the Kings and advance to the next round, no other members of the Warriors registered over 17 points.
Following Sunday’s fiery performance, Klay Thompson coined Game 7 against the Kings, “The Steph Curry game.” After his teammate’s 50-point effort, Thompson told reporters he will always remember Sunday’s Game 7 against the Kings as “The Steph Curry game.”
It’s the best, especially when you have an off night yourself. The team, no one really shot it particularly well, except for Steph. There’s a reason he’s a two-time MVP, a Finals MVP, It’s because he pushes us over the top in moments like this. When he’s in the zone like that you just try to get him his spots, get him the ball, get out the way. Gosh, what an incredible performance. This is a Game 7 I will forever remember as the Steph Curry game. He’s just a joy to watch and play with. I really truly enjoy sharing the backcourt with him.
