An Iowa company has pulled its kitten milk replacers from shelves nationwide after testing showed some batches lacked enough of the nutrients newborn kittens depend on entirely. Revival Animal Health of Orange City announced the recall of Breeder's Edge and Shelter's Choice Feline Milk Replacers on Wednesday, in a notice posted by the FDA.
The nutrients found at low levels are potassium, copper, folic acid, choline and pyridoxine, better known as vitamin B6. No illnesses have been confirmed. The company says it is investigating nine complaints involving possible gastrointestinal and bone development problems.
