Kirkcudbright youngsters plan sponsored swim for Ukraine

Youngsters in Kirkcudbright are aiming to make a splash for Ukraine.

Members of Kirkcudbright Amateur Swimming Club – known as the Otters – will be holding a sponsored swim on April 1.

With the distance between Kirkcudbright and Kyiv approximately 2,356km, it has been decided to swim the distance but in metres.

And so the senior swimmers will aim to each swim 2,356 – 118 lengths of Kirkcudbright Swimming Pool – with the juniors hoping to cover the distance as a team.

All swimmers have been asked to get sponsored and there will also be a bake sale – both to boost funds and provide cakes to give the swimmers something to look forward to at the end of their challenge.

Money collected will be given to Massive Outpouring of Love, which will use it to buy medical supplies, food, shelter and clean water.

Anyone who would like to support the swimmers can do so by sending a cheque made payable to KASC to Kirkcudbright Swimming Pool. Money raised will be presented to MOOL following the swim.
