Kirkcudbright Hospital and Alzheimer’s Research will be the beneficiaries of a garden opening at the Dhoon, Kirkcudbright, on Sunday.
Once dubbed ‘“The Garden of the Unexpected”, 3 Millhall has a series of paths on a hillside running alongside the rocky shore of the Dee Estuary in Kirkcudbright Bay. The location is stunning and each turn in the many paths reveals another interesting plant in a wonderful collection to admire.
The five acre garden has a large collection of mature shrubs, including over 200 rhododendron species, Camellias and many rare southern hemisphere plants. At this time of year the hydrangeas provide some wonderful colour and there is always something of interest to see.
The garden at 3 Milllhall (DG6 4TQ) is located on the B727 between Kirkcudbright and Borgue on the west shore of the Dee Estuary. Parking at Dhoon Beach public car park about three miles south of Kirkcudbright. There is a five minute walk to the house as there is no vehicular access to 3 Millhall. It is well worth the short walk.
The garden will be open from 2pm until 5pm on Sunday. Admission is £5, children free and proceeds will go the Kirkcudbright Hospital League of Friends and Alzheimer’s Research. For further information go to www.scotlandsgardens.org
