Aaron Rodgers tore his right Achilles tendon on the first drive of the Jets‘ season, and now, Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins finds himself in the same boat.
The veteran Minnesota quarterback tore his right Achilles tendon on Oct. 29 and has been recovering since. Impressively, Rodgers already is expected to be cleared by the Jets medical staff this week.
Cousins wanted to speak to someone who’s been through the recovery process before, so he reached out to Rodgers the day before his surgery, he told ESPN’s Adam Schefter this week. The two quarterbacks have spoken loosely about the injury process since.
Like Rodgers, the Vikings star has done a lot of research about the injury to help his recovery. Cousins realized a lot of athletes suffer Achilles tears, and the revelation gave him an interesting idea.
“I joked with Aaron. I texted him the other day. I said, ‘We need to start an Achilles Anonymous group. Maybe at Super Bowl week, we could have a little summit. We can all meet in Vegas and invite all the who’s who of torn Achilles and see if we can all get in a room and swap stories and experiences and strategies.’”
