It’s not the most common scene to see an opposing player go straight at towering San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama. But during Thursday night’s game between San Antonio and the Sacramento Kings, Domantas Sabonis did just that, creating a highlight reel moment.
Sabonis faked out Wembanyama with an impressive euro step to the point that the rookie swiped for the ball in the wrong direction and was left standing with his arms up as Sacramento’s big man finished a dunk.

The play by Sabonis is even more impressive when factoring in that Wembanyama had five blocks and five steals on the night. He’s been a defensive force for the Spurs, averaging 3.2 blocks and 3.2 steals per game this season.
The Kings went on to pull out a 127–122 victory on Thursday, with Sabonis tallying 22 points and 11 rebounds on 11-of-15 shooting. Wembanyama filled up the box score for the Spurs, finishing with 19 points, 13 rebounds, five steals, five blocks and four assists.
