Daniel Vávra is no longer working as creative director on Warhorse Studios’ next game and has shifted to a new role focused on bringing Kingdom Come to film or TV.
During the interview with the Czech publication CzechCrunch, Warhorse CEO Martin Frývaldský said that Vávra’s new responsibility is developing a live-action Kingdom Come project, with a working draft of a script already in place.

According to him, the project is very ambitious, but there are no concrete plans for either a movie or a live-action series.
Some film adaptations of video games simply repeated their stories, but with our comic book for Kingdom Come, we chose to supplement the stories of the heroes from the game. We are working with both options. However, anyone who has played Kingdom Come or Mafia knows Dan’s style and can once again expect a powerful story. It is important for us to reach a similar audience as the game, whether through a film or a series. That means the United States, Western Europe, but also Asia.

According to Frývaldský, Vávra will no longer be in the office day-to-day, but he still remains a part of Warhorse. While he’s busy working on an adaptation, the studio will continue forward with a new management structure for game development.
Frývaldský confirmed that this change aligns with the company’s strategy to create tie-in materials for the games, like merchandise, comics, and now a live-action adaptation.
Right now, it’s unknown if this push for an adaptation is in any way connected to the announcement made in 2020 that stated the producer Erik Barmack and Wild Sheep Content production firm were working on KCD’s adaptation.
Vávra was always the main creative force behind the Kingdom Come: Deliverance project, both the original game and its sequel, so it’s no surprise that the studio wants him to be at the helm of such an ambitious project.
For now, this is all the information we have about the KCD adaptation. More info will come as soon as something materializes.
