King Charles III has posed for his first ever portrait as monarch today just hours after ascending to the throne upon the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth.
The photo shows Charles sat at a table in Buckingham Palace and comes as he addressed the nation for the first time as King this evening.
A picture of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth, can be seen on the table beside him as Charles appears mournful after her death yesterday.
