Newly-appointed His Majesty King Charles III has made a poignant address to the UK, following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
King Charles spoke of his 'profound sorrow' following the passing of his 'beloved mother' who he described as an inspiration and example. He also renewed his late mother's promise of lifelong service to the people of the United Kingdom and announced the new duties of his wife Camilla as the new Queen Consort and Prince William, who will now become the Prince of Wales.
People gathered at St Paul's Cathedral in London to listen to His Majesty's speech that was broadcast to the nation at 6pm.
