Kimberley Walsh says she hid her pregnancy from Sarah Harding to spare her pain

Kimberley Walsh has told how she initially hid her pregnancy from Sarah Harding as she didn't want to cause the singer more 'pain' amid her terminal cancer battle.

The Girl's Aloud singer, 40, found out she was expecting her third child in September 2020 just after her friend Sarah began battling 'advanced' breast cancer — destroying her fertility and with it her chance to become a mother.

Speaking on Sophie Ellis-Bextor's podcast, Spinning Plates, she opened up about the loss of her friend in September 2021 at the age of 39.

Kimberley - who is mother to Bobby, six, Cole, four and 15-month-old Nate - said: ''It was the most horrific time in some ways for me personally because shortly after I think I found out she was poorly I got pregnant again and I almost didn't want to tell her."

The then expectant mum admits she did delay telling Sarah for 'a while' even though it was 'amazing news' but before she found the moment Sarah had found out from other means.

Kimberley immediately Face timed her friend and apologised which Sarah instantly accepted before checking in on her health.

But Kim admits she 'couldn't bear to give her another moment of pain' as she knew she couldn't have kids due to the chemo.

The mum-of-three said at that moment she was 'blown away' by her bandmate's strength and when baby Nate arrived and she visited her family she was still asking questions and 'loving it' — despite her own struggles with being denied motherhood.

She said Sarah and her had discussed her fertility woes and it 'completely broke her' to know that she had accepted the cruel blow that was before her.

Kimberley took newborn Nate to Sarah's wake as she was breastfeeding and she said it actually 'saved the day' for a lot of her grieving friends.

"They were like 'we just needed it so much'. He was literally like a pass the parcel giving everybody that little feeling of hope."

Sarah addressed her fertility in her autobiography Hear Me Out as she admitted to 'worrying about not having children'.

She told: "It might seem odd to worry about not having children when I don't even know how much of a life I have left, but it's there.

''The truth is, even if my prognosis was better, it still wouldn't be on the cards because of all the chemotherapy I've had.

''That treatment, harsh as it is, will have killed any chance I might have had. It's making me cry just thinking about it.''
