Kim Kardashian’s Minimalist Gift Wrapping Turns Simple White Paper and a Personalized Wax Seal Into a Chic, Luxe Holiday Statement

Kim kardashian at the 2024 met gala.

Kim Kardashian is practically synonymous with the quiet luxury aesthetic, from her ultra-minimalist home to her sleek wardrobe. It is appropriate, then, that her gift wrapping style follows suit.

In a post shared to her Instagram page, Kim showed off her chic, white gifts, dressed simply in plain wrapping paper and finished off with a personalized 'K' wax seal. Needless to say, it's giving us some Christmas gift wrapping ideas.

Notably, the gifts are tightly wrapped with no visible creasing or tape marks, contributing to the elevated aesthetic. Luckily, a gift wrapping expert has shared some of her top tips to recreate this seamless look.

First and foremost, selecting the right paper is crucial for your wrapped gift's overall appearance. While Kim has opted for a simple, white paper, experts say that it should be chosen based on your individual tastes.

'Paper choice is totally personal preference,' Kelsey Hartung, founder and chief gift designer at Give Wrapped explains. 'I personally like thicker paper because it elevates the wrap based on the feel and doesn't tear as easily...but it's not easier for everyone to use. Generally, tape goes in the direction of the paper. We love to use double-sided tape because there is no visible tape on the wrapping paper. Double or single-sided tape should be no longer than 1 inch.'

To get those perfectly-wrapped corners, Kelsey says that measuring the paper is key.

'The most important step in gift wrapping is measuring paper,' she explains. 'If you do not measure correctly, you waste paper that cannot be reused, you might have to do some "patchwork" to cover the gift, or you also might use too much paper, which is then folded over and over, and then bulky on the gift.'

She says that beginning by measuring the length, width, and height of your gift is the starting point.

'A fabric measuring tape comes in handy here! To measure correctly, be sure that you have enough paper to go around the entire gift and a few extra inches,' she states. 'To determine the paper width needed, measure the gift and use this formula: length + 2 x height + 1" extra (length + height + height + 1"). Then, to determine the paper height: width + 2 x height (width + height + height).'

She continues, 'Once you have your paper cut to the proper size, place your gift in the middle of the paper, the gift is upside down. Then you bring the long side of the paper up to the middle of the bottom of the gift, pull your paper tightly around the box so that the paper hugs your package smoothly, and then tape it down. Bring the other side of the paper up to meet the paper and tape it closed. Then it's a matter of folding the sides down and in and adding some ribbons, embellishments, and you cannot forget the gift tag!'

If you're working with a minimalist wrapping paper, like Kim, experiment with texture by adding a wax seal or a ribbon, like this cream, satin one from Walmart that looks fantastic as a bow.
