More than 11 million Americans had already voted in the 2026 US midterm elections by October 20, but registration deadlines have passed in several states, leaving eligible voters with limited options to participate in the November 3 election. Registration rules, early voting schedules and mail-in ballot requirements differ across states, making it essential for voters to check local election rules before casting their ballots.
According to the University of Florida Election Lab’s early vote tracker, more than 3 million Americans had voted in person before Election Day, while more than 7 million had submitted mail-in ballots as of October 20.
