Kim Kardashian has suggested that putting herself first and making herself happy may have been behind her divorce from Kanye West.
In an interview for the cover of Vogue magazine, businesswoman and reality TV star said that she decided to “make myself happy” over the past two years and that “feels really good”.
She said: “And even if that created changes and caused my divorce, I think it’s important to be honest with yourself about what really makes you happy.
“I’ve chosen myself. I think it’s okay to choose you.”
The 41-year-old filed for divorce from rapper Kanye West in January 2021 and said that she will remain his cheerleader in front of their four children, North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2.
Kanye, 44, has criticised her letting their daughter North use TikTok without his permission, and alleged she had kidnapped their daughter Chicago among other things.
But she told the magazine: “You could be so hurt or angry at your ex, but I think in front of the kids, it always has to be ‘Your dad’s the best.’”
“Make sure you are your co-parent’s biggest cheerleader, no matter what you’re personally going through,” she said.
West, now legally known as Ye, famously helped Kardashian with her fashion choices, and the socialite said it was “scary” but “liberating” not to have his advice.
“Who knows? I might just be in Skims and be so comfy and casual and wear no makeup, and that might be what I feel like representing to the world,” she said. “Maybe it’s just not that serious.”
The star is training to be a lawyer and in December passed what is known as the ‘baby bar’ law exam, enabling her to take the full bar exam.
Kardashian is now dating Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson, while West is dating Uncut Gems actor Julia Fox.
Divorce proceedings between the ex-couple have stalled because of Kanye’s refusal to sign off, a source told E! News on Monday.
The insider told the publication: “Kim is still trying to get the ‘married’ status dissolved to ‘single’ before they finalise the divorce, but Ye has yet to sign. Moving this divorce along isn’t something he’s acting quickly on, despite Kim’s efforts.”
Vogue’s March 2021 issue is available on newsstands nationwide on February 22nd.
