Kim Kardashian stunned the world as she turned up at this year's Met Gala wearing Marilyn Monroe's iconic Happy Birthday Mr President dress.
However, she's now been accused of damaging the world famous gold gown by a Marilyn Monroe devotee.
The Marilyn Monroe Collection took to Instagram on Monday to share "before" and "after" shots that allegedly show the dress damaged following Kim's outing.
The dress, which was on loan from Ripley's Believe It or Not!, appears to have several new issues and the user claims there are "missing crystals" with some now "left hanging by a thread".
The images of the dress now went viral after being taken by ChadMichael Morrisette and uploaded on Sunday.
And fans were quick to comment on the post with one saying: "'So much for keeping "the integrity of the dress and the preservation." @ripleysbelieveitornot, was it worth it?"
Another wrote: "Missing so many crystals and those tears. What a disaster!!"
And a third said: "Not only the stretching around the zipper, but if you look at the upper-ish left side, there are several crystals missing!"
The dress, which was bought for $5 million in 2016, had been kept in a temperature-controlled environment ever since its purchase.
Kim, 41, was loaned the gown for the annual gala and Ripley's said in a statement at the time: "'Great care was taken to preserve this piece of pop culture history.
"With input from garment conservationists, appraisers, and archivists, the garment’s condition was top priority. Believe It or Not! no alterations were to be made to the dress and Kim even changed into a replica after the red carpet!"
And a source close to the SKIMS founder told Mail Online that any signs of wear and tear were visibly before Ripley's bought it and labelled the allegations false.
Kim was also criticised at the time for confirming she had shed 16 pounds to fit into the garment.
The reality star said she cried when she couldn’t fit into the iconic 'naked' gown during a first try on and admitted she wore a sauna suit twice a day, while also running on a treadmill and eating the “cleanest veggies and protein” in a bid to be the right size.
But fans criticised the reality mogul for promoting unhealthy weight loss – especially as she said she would be treating herself to a “pizza and donut” party with beau Pete Davidson straight after wearing Marilyn’s dress.
