Sarah Jessica Parker is said to be considering finding another actress to play Samantha Jones in the second season of And Just Like That.
The Sex and The City reboot launched late last year with 10 full episodes, but there was a very noticeable absence in the form of Kim Cattrall.
Kim, 65, played the much-loved role of Samantha in the original series as well as the two Sex and The City films, but she chose not to return for the reboot.
It's no secret that Kim and Sarah aren't the best of friends in real-life, and so And Just Like That went ahead without Kim - but there was plenty of mentions of Samantha throughout.
And now it seems Samantha could return to Manhattan from London in a second series of the HBO show.
A source told heat magazine: "Everyone is deeply aware that And Just Like That suffered enormously from the absence of Samantha.
"Sarah and the producers haven't entirely given up on Kim coming back, but there's only so much grovelling they're willing to do - other options have to be explored.
"The show still owns her character and recasting is becoming more and more of a possibility. They need that character in the show," the insider continued.
And some mega names have already been thrown into the mix, but will any actress be willing to take on such an iconic role.
"The list includes Chelsea Handler, Kim Basinger and Annette Benning. They're considering other big Hollywood names, and have asked other cast members for input and suggestions," the source added.
"They think a recasting could very easily be explained by just saying Samantha had a major face lift while she was out of the country!"
However, earlier this month it was reported that mother-of-three Sarah refuses to have Kim back on the set following their feud.
In an interview for Variety, the 56-year-old was asked if she would be 'OK' if Cattrall could return to the fold, after she previously snubbed a part in the revamped series.
She responded: "I don't think I would, because I think there's just too much public history of feelings on her part that she's shared.
"I haven't participated in or read articles, although people are inclined to let me know.," she added.
"We didn't go to Kim for this, you know," she added.
And Just Like That season one is available to watch on Now.
