Killer remains free as family of man stabbed to death still suffer flashbacks

A family said they suffer flashbacks on the anniversary of their son's murder as his killer remains free.

Adam Ellison was walking home from the pub with friends in the early hours of November 4, 2017, when they encountered a gang of thugs in a pedestrianised area in Market Place, Prescot. An altercation occurred after a motorbike nearly crashed into them.

One of two men on a green and white Kawasaki KX 85 Big Wheel off-road bike lashed out with an unknown weapon causing devastating injuries to Adam's neck. The 29-year-old was rushed to hospital but later died from his injuries.

Merseyside Police are still hunting for Adam's killer despite numerous media appeals, a BBC documentary and a £24,000 reward for information. Following Adam's murder, his family set up the ADAM Foundation in his memory.

It campaigns against knife crime across Merseyside and and supports community initiatives in the Prescot area. On Monday, the foundation posted a heartbreaking statement on Facebook.

It said how the anniversary of Adam's death is just over four weeks away and the family suffer flashbacks which "overtake" their mind from that "horrendous night".

Part of the post read: "Son, to us his name will ever be, the key that unlocks memory of a dear son gone, but cherished yet, a beloved face we will never forget. Little brother, you where taken away so suddenly, no time to say goodbye but siblings can’t be parted and our precious memories of us all together will never die.

"Our previous loved one, when will this heartache for our family ever end? Deep down we know it won’t but how long do we have to wait until the right thing is done for you and until we meet you again. You can never lose a friend, especially one as special as you.

"I’m sure we’ll find, when we stop crying, that you’re still here in our hearts and minds. People grieve in different ways but we all feel the same way…heartbroken and dealing with the ripple affect of having Adam taken away so cruelly.

"However long it takes justice will be served, but whilst we have to wait for it we continue to deal with the pain and heartache everyday. We have lost a son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend in the most unimaginable way and in just over four weeks time the flashbacks from the horrendous night we lost Adam over take your mind."

The post went on to appeal for people to come forward with information to help Adam "get the justice he has been waiting long enough for."
