Non-league Kidderminster Harriers came within seconds of forcing penalties against West Ham United in the fourth round of the FA Cup, only for Jarrod Bowen to break their hearts and hand the top-flight side a 2-1 win in the final minute of extra-time.
Kidderminster had been on the verge of pulling off a massive upset , with the Premier League side needing a stoppage time goal from Declan Rice to take their non-league opponents to extra-time, and Bowen struck right at the death with penalties looming.
The National League North side took a first-half lead through Alex Penny, with the defender capitalising on a mix-up between Alphonse Areola and Kurt Zouma, and Russell Penn's hosts went into the break in front.
Moyes' Hammers were packed with international talent from the start, and sat 113 players above Kidderminster in the pyramid before kick-off, but the former Manchester United manager was forced to call upon his big guns after the break.
Rice and Tomas Soucek both came off the bench during the second period, joining the likes of Zouma, Areola and Said Benrahma as the top-flight outfit laboured at Aggborough, and it was the England man who broke Kidderminster hearts as the clock ticked towards full-time.
The home side had already pulled off a big shock in the third round, coming from behind to beat second-tier Reading at home, and came desperately close to going one better and becoming the first sixth-tier side to beat top-flight competition in the history of the FA Cup.
Kidderminster's half-time lead was no fluke, with Russell Penn's side giving as good as they got in the first period.
Penny's goal was one of a number of chances for the hosts, as a heavily-rotated but still healthy West Ham side struggling to gain a foothold in the game.
Home goalkeeper Luke Simpson kept the hosts in front with an important save in the second period, but he was helpless to keep out Rice's effort after the England international broke into the box and lashed his effort into the roof of the net.
Rice was one of two half-time introductions for West Ham, who beat fellow top-flight side Leeds United to reach the fourth round.
Craig Dawson also entered the fray at the start of the second period, with the visitors also bringing Tomas Soucek, Aaron Cresswell and Pablo Fornals off the bench.
It was a spirited performance from Kidderminster, who would have left West Ham with few complaints had they held on for victory.
Rice threatened to score for a second time shortly after his first, lashing a shot off-target, and West Ham looked better in extra-time after their late leveller.
Aaron Cresswell saw a free-kick deflected wide for the visitors, while his fellow substitute Dawson also missed a chance to put Moyes' side in front for the first time in the game.
The Hammers thought they had taken the lead in the second half of extra-time, only for an offside flag to cut short Jarrod Bowen's celebrations, but Bowen made no mistake from close range in the final seconds.
