Key players are set to testify in Alec Baldwin’s 'Rust' involuntary manslaughter trial, with the prosecution's final witness list including firearm experts, film industry experts, and members of the 'Rust' cast and crew.
Director Joel Souza, who was injured by the bullet that tragically struck cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, is expected to be called by the state. Additionally, crew members such as Mamie Mitchell, Cherlyn Schaefer, and Gabrielle Pickle are among those anticipated to testify. Prop master Sarah Zachry, who was not charged criminally despite her involvement with armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed, will also take the stand.
However, Gutierrez Reed, who was previously convicted of involuntary manslaughter for her role in the fatal shooting, will not be testifying in Baldwin's trial. Instead, other witnesses who testified in Gutierrez Reed's trial, including medical examiner Dr. Heather Jarrell, are expected to provide testimony.
Gutierrez Reed was sentenced to 18 months in prison after being found guilty of involuntary manslaughter on March 6. The trial lasted nearly two weeks and featured testimony from some of the same witnesses who are now set to testify in Baldwin's case.
