BREAKING NEWS (as sarcastically as possible): Two-time NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant will not retire from basketball.
Why would anyone be convinced that Durant would call it quits out of nowhere? Believe it or not, that was a rumor that surfaced on Twitter on Monday afternoon.
A widely-aggregated part of an article from NBA writer Marc Stein, referencing Durant’s basketball future, mentioned how one NBA executive repeatedly told Stein “that, based on what he was hearing, Kevin Durant was more apt to retire than play again for the Brooklyn Nets.”
The words made their rounds throughout the NBA world on Monday, prompting KD to hop on Twitter and put to bed any retirement rumors.
I know most people will believe unnamed sources over me but if it’s anyone out there that’ll listen, I don’t plan on retiring anytime soon. Shit is comical at this point.

Short and to the point. And honestly, I feel him.
Although, I can’t be mad at Stein for circling back to his original words and urging readers to sidestep the aggregation and actually read the exact segment of his article.
But I should have worded the intro differently … because I should have known that the aggregation machine would fixate on the word “retire” and not the 19 paragraphs after it. That’s on me. https://t.co/kXmIzTMvZG

Anyways, this seems like a good ol’ case of a media guy putting out what he’s heard, and then the player bashing it.
Is it NBA season yet?
