Kerry Katona says 'no one believes Holly Willoughby' as she slams 'soulless speech'

Kerry Katona says "no one believes" Holly Willoughby - as she slammed her "soulless speech" on This Morning.

The Atomic Kitten star has weighed in on Holly's speech after she made her return to This Morning last week. She had taken two weeks off for the half-term break, after Phillip Schofield stepped down from the show and then from ITV after admitting to having an affair with a younger male colleague. At the time, Phil said the relationship was "unwise" but not "illegal".

Holly later released a statement, insisting she did not know about the affair and had asked Phil about it in the past, and he had denied anything was happening. She released a message on social media to say she was hurt to find out she had been lied to.

Now Kerry has weighed in on the speech Holly made when she returned to This Morning on Monday June 5th.

"I thought Holly's speech about Phil on This Morning last week was an absolute load of s***. It was awful," Kerry shared to new! magazine, "I felt it was so staged, so rehearsed, so heartless, so soulless. People want realness.

"No one believes Holly anymore. I'd have more respect for her if she left This Morning and Dancing on Ice and said 'do you know what, it's time for me to walk away'. I have nothing against her at all, but as a viewer, I just don't think it's working any more."

Kerry went on to reveal she was backing Amanda Holden and Rylan to present the ITV mid-morning show.

In the long speech, Holly explained she was "shaken, troubled and let down" by the revelations that had come out about her co-star.

"I imagine that you might have been feeling a lot like I have – shaken, troubled, let down, worried for the wellbeing of people on all sides of what's been going on, and full of questions," she said at the time.

"You, me and all of us at This Morning gave our love and support to someone who was not telling the truth, who acted in a way that they themselves felt they had to resign from ITV, and step down from a career that they loved. That's a lot to process."

She added: "And it's equally hard to see the toll that it's taken on their own mental health. I think what unites us now is a desire to heal for the health and wellbeing of everyone. I hope that, as we start this new chapter and get back to a place of warmth and magic that this show holds for all of us, we can find strength in each other...

"And thank you for being here this morning. Myself, Josie, Dermot, Alison, Craig and every single person that works on this show will continue to work hard every single day to bring you this show that we love."
