Kerr McInroy insists Ayr United have more than enough character in their dressing room to stay up.
The Celtic loan star has been a standout since arriving in January and dragged The Honest Men to another vital point on Friday night.
Now he reckons togetherness – allied to the ability within the ranks – will help see Lee Bullen’s men over the line.
He said: “There’s four games to go and it’s in our own hands, so that’s the main thing.
“We’ve got more than enough to stay up and we’ll just take it game by game now.
“Hopefully we can get a couple of wins in the next few games and that will do the job for us.
“We were disappointed not get the three points (against Hamilton) but to take something from the game was good.
“I’m not sure if it was my best ever goal but it was a nice strike.
“It just sat up perfectly and as I was running onto it I bet people were thinking don’t shoot, but I managed to get lucky and caught it on the half-volley.
“It was in the net before I could look up. I didn’t see it go in, I just heard the reaction to it.”
McInroy’s moment of magic rescued what could be a huge point for Ayr as they bid to stave off Dunfermline in ninth place.
He added: “In a way it feels like a win because of the excitement that comes from scoring a late goal but we’re still disappointed at not getting three points.
“That would have been massive for us.
“But we’ll certainly take a point in the position we were in, going into injury time and a goal down.
“We’ve got a group that have shown character to come back in games.
“Since I have come to the club there is a lot of times we’ve gone a goal down in games, which obviously we are not happy about but we’ve always shown a bit of character to come back and maybe get a point, like we have done in the last couple of games.
“We’re also missing a few players and when they come back it will only make us stronger.
“Going into the last few games we obviously need everyone and we all need to be together.
“Whether you are playing or not you just need to encourage the team, push each other on as everyone wants the same thing here."
McInroy added: “Obviously I only came at the end of January and I feel as though I fitted in straight away and I’ve really bought into what the boys are trying to do here.
“My future is quite uncertain, I don’t really know what’s going to be coming in the next few months.
“But it is probably something to be excited about rather than worried about.
“I’ll just take it as it comes and hopefully just keep enjoying my football.
“I’ve got the option of another year at Celtic and I’ll just need to wait and see what happens.
“Definitely next year I need to be playing somewhere every week, as I am doing just now.
“I just want to be playing football every week and enjoying it."
