Kerala: Nation's foundation under attack, says Rahul Gandhi

KOZHIKODE: Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi continued his tirade against the central government on the final day of his visit to his constituency on Wednesday, saying that the foundation of the country was being attacked.

Speaking after inaugurating the indoor stadium of the Sullamussalam Science College at Areekode in Malappuram on Wednesday, Gandhi said that religion and religious ideas are being attacked and there is a feeling in the country that the foundational principles of the country are under attack.

"If you are a Muslim or Christian, the people who are running the country make you feel uncomfortable, make you feel scared," he said.

Gandhi called upon the students not to be scared of anything or anyone. "Fear is a choice. When we are scared of something, we are choosing to be scared of that. There is also another decision. You can turn around and say I am not scared. The moment you decide not to be scared, the person or thing that is trying to scare you becomes scared," he said.

Gandhi told the students that they should realize that people who are in power in Delhi, were themselves scared. "They are terrified and to run from their fear they are scaring you," he said.

Earlier, Gandhi signed a MoU with Tata Power to provide free training programme at the additional skill acquisition programme (ASAP) community skill park at Mananthavady in Wayanad.

As per the MoU, free training will be provided to youth in the district, including from tribal communities, in electrical, solar, industrial safety, UX design, data science by Tata Power Skill Development Institute and Tata Strive, the skill development initiative of the Tata Community Initiatives Trust under the aegis of Tata Trusts.

He also attended the meeting of the district development coordination and monitoring committee (DISHA) meeting in Wayanad and called upon the authorities to speed up the projects implemented using MPLADS funds of MPs.
