IDUKKI: A 15-year-old boy was found hanging inside his house at Pushpakandam near Nedumkandam in Idukki on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Sujith, son of Puthuchiveetil Sunil. According to Nedumkandam police, the incident occurred on Saturday morning when the mother tried to wake him around 4:30am but he did not respond and was found hanging in his room.
Nedumkandam SHO CS Binu told TOI that the boy’s parents had objected to his friendship with a girl after her uncle warned the boy’s father about it on Friday evening.
“We suspect that the parents warned him and it resulted in the extreme step. A suicide note found in the room said that he didn’t want to be a burden on the family,” said Binu.
The body was shifted to Idukki medical college for postmortem.
Meanwhile, within a one-year period, three boys under 15 years committed suicide under the Nedumkandam police station limit. In September last year, a 13-year-old boy was found hanging on the terrace of a house at Nedumkandam. Initially it was thought that the boy accidentally died while playing. But a detailed probe revealed that the boy had committed suicide.
In March, a 12-year-old boy was found hanging inside his house in Nedumkandam police station limit. The probe revealed that the reason behind the suicide was mobile game addiction.
