Kenny Miller highlights key Rangers positional issue as he delivers Giovanni van Bronckhorst verdict

Kenny Miller has highlighted a key position that has been an issue for YEARS that Rangers must address as he gave his thoughts on Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The former Light Blues and Celtic striker believes the right wing area of the park has been a problem at the club for some time as he highlighted a list of NINE players he had noted down that played that position in the past 16 months. He also expressed that at least half of them do not actually play that role and it is an area they must sort out.

Van Bronckhorst has come in for criticism over performances and results of late. A narrow 1-0 triumph over Dundee in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final at Ibrox was followed up with dropped points at home to Livingston to leave Rangers trailing Celtic by four points in the race for the Premiership title. The Dutchman superbly guided his troops to the Champions League group stages by dumping PSV in the play-off round but they've lost four from four in the section and conceded a whopping 16 goals with just one scored.

However, despite calls for the Dutchman to be axed, Miller believes he still has credit in the bank. He expressed that his old club are only losing games in Europe, not domestically with the main issue being performance levels of the current Rangers crop.

Speaking to Clyde Superscoreboard, he said: "I still don't think it's at that moment. You never want to see anyone, when you are in the business or trying to get back in the business, you never like to see people losing their jobs. However the results, the performances, I think Jim (the caller) made a really good point about the right wing situation. I think it's been an issue for a number of years.

"I think I had a list of nine players that have played that position in the last 16 months and probably half of them, it's not their position. So it's an area that needs to be addressed.

"I just think as a football club the manager is always going to carry the can, that's just the nature of the beast. But just because you are losing games doesn't mean you are the wrong man. The thing for Gio at the moment is, he is not losing games apart from Champions League games.

"But it's the performance level, that's what's not there at the moment, because as I said last week if Rangers continue to play the way that they are playing then they are going to drop points because they can't just go through games with substandard performances and expecting [Antonio] Colak to take that chance that he had been doing up until last week."
