Kelly Clarkson recently revealed that she turned to a weight-loss drug to help transform her body. During an episode of 'The Kelly Clarkson Show,' the singer shared that she had been struggling with her weight and health, leading her to seek medical intervention. Clarkson disclosed that she had been prescribed a Type II diabetes drug to aid in her weight loss journey.
Although she did not specify the exact medication she was taking, Clarkson clarified that it was not the popular weight-loss drug Ozempic. She explained that her decision to try the medication was prompted by concerns about her deteriorating health, particularly her blood work results.
The Grammy-winning artist admitted that she had initially hesitated to use the prescribed drug due to her existing thyroid issues. However, after her doctor persistently recommended it for two years, she eventually decided to give it a try.
Clarkson shared that she had not realized the extent of her weight gain until she saw a video of herself and was taken aback by her appearance. She candidly discussed her heaviest weight of 203 pounds, emphasizing that the weight loss journey was not driven by feelings of misery or depression.
Both Clarkson and another celebrity, who had also used the same weight-loss drug, acknowledged that their progress was gradual and not an overnight transformation. While Clarkson did not disclose the exact amount of weight she had lost, reports suggested that she had shed around 60 pounds.
Contrary to speculations that she had solely relied on medication for weight loss, Clarkson attributed her success to a combination of diet and exercise. She emphasized the importance of following her doctor's advice and maintaining a protein-rich diet, which she found beneficial for her health.
In addition to dietary changes, Clarkson mentioned engaging in physical activities such as walking around New York City, where she resides, as well as utilizing infrared saunas and cold plunges as part of her wellness routine. She also revealed that she had received a prediabetes diagnosis before embarking on her weight loss journey.
